Admission eligibilities and norms for Government Music & Dance schools and colleges affiliated to Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University are as follows:
- Every year examinations for Certificate and Diploma Courses are conducted by the Govt. Music & Dance schools/ colleges, for which the syllabus is framed by Telugu University. They are held in the months of May/June.
- Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University will conduct annual examinations for 4 years Certificate courses at the end of 4th year and 2 years Diploma course at the end of 2nd year.
- There should be a compulsory gap of two years after passing Certificate Examination to appear for the Diploma Examinations.
- Candidates joining in Karnatic Music/Dance courses, for which the examinations are conducted by the university, are supposed to have ability to read and write Telugu/English.
- Those who have passed the Certificate course are only eligible to join in regular Diploma course.
- Students appearing for the Certificate course examinations should have completed 14 years of age. They should submit the official age proof along with the application. If the submitted proof is found to be false the application will be rejected and the application fee paid will not be refunded.
- In the Certificate course examination conducted by the university, there will be 100 marks for the theory paper and 100 marks for practical paper totaling to 200 marks. Division will be decided depending on the marks secured.
- The Diploma examination conducted by the university will have two theory papers and two practical papers. There will be 100 marks for each paper totaling to 400 marks.
- For the regular students, appearing for the examination, 75% attendance is compulsory. If the medical certificate is produced for any health reason 10% exemption will be given.
- Private students appearing for Certificate and Diploma examination should pay some amount for attendance exemption.
- If the candidate failed in theory or practical in the first appearance of the annual Certificate exam, conducted by the university. he/she should have to write both the papers in the next appearance.
- There will be two papers in theory and two papers in practical in the Diploma examination. If failed in any of the two papers it is considered as failing in both the papers, appearing for the first time for the Diploma exam. In the subsequent the candidate can appear for only failed paper in his/her appearance.
- There are branches of Karnatic Vocal, Veena, Violin, Flute, Gottu, Naadaswaram, Dolu, Kuchipudi, Bharata Natyam, Andhra Natyam, Hindusthani Vocal, Tabla, Sitar, Kathak. If the candidate has passed in both the theory and practical papers in a branch then he/she can appear for only practical examinatiion in any other branch next year or year after. They need not write theory paper again.
- There will be no Supplementary examination for Certificate or Diploma course.
- Percentages – Division
- 35% – 49% Third Division
- 50% – 59% Second Division
- 60% – 69% First Division
- 70% and above Distinction
- All the fees paid to the university by the candidates should be through a D.D. of any nationalized bank and in the name of Registrar, Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad.
- Theory Examinations conducted of Karnatic Music, Mridangam, Dolu, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Andhra Natyam can be written in Telugu or English, while the examinations conducted for Hindusthani vocal, Table, Sithar, Kathak can be written in Telugu/English/ Hindi.
- Candidates want to appear for the Certificate and Diploma examinations can obtain the application forms from the Principals of Govt. Music & Dance Colleges by paying the fee or online.
- Candidates want to appear for Certificate and Diploma examination can obtain the application from the Principals of Govt. Music & Dance colleges, situated neat to them and submit the filled applications enclosing the D.D for prescribed fee in the name of ‘Registrar’ Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad and necessary certificates. Those who want to appear as external candidates should enclose the D.D. for exemption fees also.
